The art of listening, or...
... what does it take for me to meet myself?
In a time of constant change and major internal and external changes, this is not so easy to answer. The news always tells the same stories. Like a mantra, they paint a picture of a terrible future that threatens us if we don't... xyz. And so we may react driven or unsettled and ask ourselves: what is right, what is wrong?
The physical response to such internal events is often: we contract, we withdraw and keep our distance, we obey and apply our learned survival and compensation patterns. We hope that we will somehow get through it safely and unscathed. But „where am I“ in this experience? Is what I can call „my life“ still happening at all?
These are, of course, the really big and fundamental questions and so this time in which we live is also an opportunity for each individual to redefine them for themselves. The „art of listening“, I wrote in the headline, and perhaps it really isn't as easy as it sounds...
It would need at least my full ...
Attention, it needs
RAUM so that something can blossom in me.
The texts and books by Jiddu Krishnamurti were very moving for me personally on my path to finding myself. In these books, he repeatedly writes about „listening“. And he says that the „art of listening“ is true meditation. When I listen, I open myself without expectation and allow myself to feel, to perceive what is flowing through me. In most meditation practices, he says, there is always an observer and the observed... this manifests separation, which never leads to true happiness.
It sounds so simple at first that you might not believe it could be so important. He recommends repeatedly seeking out the state of „listening“ - quite normally in everyday life - in whatever I am doing right now. To pause, slow down and consciously connect with everything that is there right now. To merge with this moment in which the „ego“, or what we think we are, dissolves...
I AM the I AM
I don't know how you're doing in your personal everyday life right now, but maybe you'd like to give it a try in February. Just to test it out for a month. Dedicate a few minutes every day to „listening“. To feel what is happening right now: the stillness, the flow of life within you, listening to your breath as it comes and goes. To experience the noise in your surroundings, to let it penetrate you... What is it that my soul, my humanity is experiencing right now? It is an exciting time... and it could be that you discover it... - the „magic“ - that is possible in every breath.
