Who am I? This question is as old as mankind and yet it is always helpful for me and can form a bridge to what is essential for me at this moment. I recently came across this question again when I took part in the annual sound symposium in Gelsenkirchen and followed the participants' discussion in a workshop on sound massage and cancer. In a discussion about cancer, sooner or later you inevitably come to this question: What do I think, who am I as a human being? Are we energy beings, consciousness or, as conventional medicine still argues in many areas: Machine people?
And what is cancer in these different world views? Medicine says, for example, that tumors are cell growths, i.e. degenerated tissue. If it is a „malignant“ tumor, even with an uncontrollable, destructive effect on the rest of the body. Therefore, therapies such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy or surgery are recommended to stop this or to remove the degenerated areas. She also advises against massages, foot reflexology and sound massage. The fear of metastasis is too great. However, I think this is based on the idea that the human being is a machine with organs, channels, connections and systems. If there is a „foreign body“ in the system that is malignant, it should not be „released“ and „migrate“ and spread throughout the entire system. That's the idea - a mechanical view of the world.
However, many natural healing methods have a completely different idea of „who am I as a human being?“ - In sound healing there is the quote: „Nada Brahma - the world is sound“. Every cell, every organ has its own vibration, its own sound. During research into a new high-resolution microscope, a study has even taken the trouble to translate this natural vibration of the cells into sound and found that: Healthy cells vibrate harmoniously, they have a kind of „beautiful“ music. Sick cells, however, vibrate disharmoniously and when translated into „sound“ we perceive this as „noise“. This information reminded me of the water pictures of the Japanese para-scientist Masaru Emoto, where you can see beautiful symmetries in living water and in poor quality water you only see chaos and broken fragments.
So could we define cancer as inharmonically vibrating areas or even as disinformed, unconnected areas that are separate from us as holistic beings? According to this view of humanity, the harmoniously vibrating singing bowl would be an offer of a higher vibration. Areas that are in disharmony could go into resonance with it and harmony and connectedness could happen as a result. Metastasis would therefore be almost impossible. A living organism is always a self-regulating system, even if nobody knows how this miracle takes place within us. Health happens when we can allow these life energies to flow freely within us again and stress and negative emotions do not block this flow. Everything in nature always strives for balance, according to the law of homeostasis, which is inherent in every living thing.
Consciousness in a vibrating universe of sound...
Anyone who has ever enjoyed a singing bowl massage can perhaps confirm this: A deep level within us is touched by Harmony and vibration. We can finally let go and feel that we are part of something bigger. We are so much more than just the collection of our „good“ and „bad“ cells. Perhaps this is called basic trust, or coming home to myself. We sense who we really are:
That was a great insight for me, which I think is worth reflecting on...
